Tough end to a fun series. The Grizzlies came into this series with not many people giving them a chance. They battled hard and made this very exciting as well as playing good basketball. It started out pretty even as it was 11-11 midway through the first. The Spurs then went on a quick 7-0 run which was quickly followed up by back-to-back Andrew Harrison threes. Tony Parker had 11 first quarter points as Mike Conley hit a three pointer at the buzzer as the Grizzlies trailed 24-22 after one. The Grizzlies shot 6-23 in the opening quarter.
Marc Gasol hit a nice turn around jumper to tie it up at 28. The Grizzlies then started getting going in the quarter including some big threes as Memphis shot 8-15 from deep in the first half, ending the half up 50-45 as Conley hit another three pointer to end the half as he done a lot this series. Kawhi and Parker each had 15 first half points to lead all scorers while Memphis was led by 11 from Gasol and 10 from Vince Carter.
Two quick baskets to start the second half got it out to a nine point lead quickly. The Grizzlies were getting their shots to fall to start the third quarter which led to them getting out to a 63-53 lead. The Spurs then started to make a run which was largely done because of the fact that they dominated Memphis on the offensive glass. The Spurs went up 67-66 on a Aldridge put back, a Ginobili four point play put them up 73-69, but a wide open Conley three countered this to make it 75-74 to end the third quarter with the Spurs on top. Both teams had multiple players chipping in as Conley, Gasol, Randolph and Carter were all already in double figures.
The Grizzlies started the fourth quarter well as an Ennis three pointer put them up 85-79 with seven minutes remaining. The Spurs then went on a 13-5 run, which included some big plays from guys like Kawhi and Tony Parker, and would eventually put the Spurs up 92-90. The Grizzlies never really were able to make any plays down the stretch to give themselves much of a chance. A James Ennis turnover was big which led to a Parker jumper. Conley was fouled on a three down six with 29 seconds left but he missed the third one which led to a Spurs runout by Tony Parker for a layup to go back up six and that was the final blow. The San Antonio Spurs won game six to eliminate the Grizzlies 103-96.
Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with 29 points but they also got huge productions from Tony Parker, who had 27 points, and from LaMarcus Aldridge who had 17 points and 12 boards. Mike Conley led the way for Memphis with 26 points. Marc Gasol had 18 points, Zach Randolph also played well scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Grizzlies shot 32-71 from the field and 12-27 from three.
