After stints with the Kings and Pelicans, the former Memphis Tiger is coming home after agreeing to a one-year, $3.3M deal with the Grizzlies, which is a steal for a versatile player of Evans’ caliber.
Early Friday afternoon Geoff Calkins, columnist for the Commercial Appeal and host of the Geoff Calkins Show on 92.9FM in Memphis, broke news that Tyreke Evans has reached an agreement with the Grizzlies.
Despite missing just under 100 games over the past two season due to right knee issues and multiple surgeries, he was able to average 10.3 points/2.4 assists/3.6 rebounds in only 19.7 minutes of play after returning last season.
He has posted career averages of 16.1 points/5.1 assists/4.8 rebounds and has shown an incredible ability to play point forward and can be a constant triple-double threat when healthy. Even though his shooting might not look great on paper, his three has been improving, making over 33.5% from beyond the arc his last three seasons.
He looked healthy finishing up the 2016-17 season, and his experience and play style will surely help make an impact on the court for the Grizzlies next season.
